This week as i browsed the web for some inspiration i came accross the Tracy Reese 2009 fall collection runway photos and felt immediately inspired by this outfit. I am discovering that i love when outfits have juxtaposition, like the fluffy yet hard look of last week’s inspiration photo, and the glam yet comfy look of today’s. This week i was also lucky enough to be assisted by some talented individuals. The photography was provided by Lorenzo Fariello, and improptu art direction by his friend and jack-of-all-fashion-trades Giovanni Lucchetti; who happened to be passing by the location where we were meeting for the photo shoot and offered up his help. It was his idea to omit the thigh highs for my version of the outfit since the dress i wore was longer and thought they would overwhelm the outfit, and i completely agree! Just because you are using an inspiration photo doesn’t mean it has to be the exact same. Keep this in mind if you are putting together an outfit and are missing a piece, you don’t have to go running out to get what’s missing. The outfit might just work great the way it is! Here is the result of our combined work.
Sweater: Sweet Romeo Waterfall Sweater (same), Dress: I.N.C International Concepts (similar), Mules: DKNY (same, but much more expensive than what i paid through Gilt a while ago!), Beanie: NYC Street Vendor (cute one)
One last thought before i sign off. Notice that the inspiration outfit came from a 2009 collection. That is not exactly “in season” but in my humble opinion if your goal, like mine, is to look at your current wardrobe in a different light then it doesn’t matter what season the inspiration is from! if you like it, wear it. What do you think?
